adventure and growth

The 2nd South Petherton Cub Pack offers an exciting programme for young people aged 8 to 10½ . Cubs embark on a journey of exploration, discovery and personal development within a supportive and inclusive environment.

We try many different fun activities. Such as canoeing, archery, and air rifle shooting. We go camping and we do arts and crafts. We explore the outdoors and learn to light fires. There are many more exciting activities! We meet indoors regularly, go on day trips, and sometimes stay away for a couple of nights. The programme is available to parents, including times and locations, by logging into the Online Scout Manager account. The Calendar Feed can also be subscribed to via your calendar software (e.g. iCal or Google Calendar) to ensure an up to date view. Information about completing awards and badges is summarised in a handy guide.

We master new skills and try new things. We have fun and go on adventures. We make friends and help others.

Leaders

Akela, Bagheera, Bobo and Frog lead the Cub Pack, with support from some Young Leaders.

Other adult volunteers are on hand to supervise activities, share their skills and keep everyone safe.

We currently need one more helper.

Sixes

A Six is a smaller group of Cubs within their Pack, headed up by a Sixer and a Seconder.

Sixers and Seconders are Cub Scouts who are chosen to take on leadership responsibilities, such as welcoming new people to the Pack, being extra helpful on camp, or taking charge of a particular game or activity.

Cubs usually work together in their Sixes on trips away, or during certain activities.

Moving up to Scouts

When Cubs are approaching 10 years old, they start activities to get ready for joining the Scout Section. This can include becoming a Sixer or Seconder. This helps them move easily into the next part of the Scouting programme.

They will have already met the Scout Leaders. These leaders sometimes help with their activities. Scouts, and their Leaders, also join in with Cubs sometimes on Group events.
