Our policies

2nd South Petherton Scout Group is part of The Scout Association in the UK. As a member of the national organisation, we are governed by the Scout Association’s Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR). POR sets out the standards, procedures and expectations that apply to every Scout Group in the UK. These national rules ensure that Scouting is safe, consistent and legally compliant across the movement.

Alongside national policies, the Group has its own local policies and governance documents. These reflect how we apply POR in our local context and how we manage the day-to-day running of the Group. They allow us to set clear expectations, support volunteers and ensure consistent practice across all Sections.

Fair treatment and equal opportunities

These set expectations across Scouting for respectful behaviour, explain how to raise and resolve concerns, and show how we consistently recruit and select the right volunteers so everyone is safe, included and well‑supported.
