starting small, thinking big
The 2nd South Petherton Scout Troops offer an exciting programme for local young people aged 10½ to 14. Being a Scout is all about discovering the world on your own terms. It’s about making the most of what you have, no matter where you are or who you are.
We do all kinds of activities like rock climbing, archery, and shooting with air rifles. We also go backwoods camping and cooking outdoors, and much more. Both indoors and away from our regular meeting place. We go on day visits. We even go on trips where we stay away for a weekend! The programme is available to parents, including times and locations, by logging into the Online Scout Manager account. The Calendar Feed can also be subscribed to via your calendar software (e.g. iCal or Google Calendar) to ensure an up to date view.

We master new skills and try new things. We achieve whatever we set our minds to. We stand up for what we believe in. We make a difference in our local community. We are confident because we know our daily actions really add up.
Leaders
Andrew leads the Monday Scout Troop, with support from some Young Leaders.
Other adult volunteers are on hand to supervise activities, share their skills and keep everyone safe.
We currently need two more leaders to reopen the Wednesday Scout Troop.
Patrols
A Patrol is a smaller group of Scouts within their Troop, who look out for one another, and help each other grow.
Scouts usually work together in their Patrols on trips away, or during certain activities.
Moving up to Explorers
When Scouts are approaching 14 years old, they start activities to get ready for joining the Explorer Section. This helps them move easily into the next part of the Scouting programme.
They will have already met other local Explorers who help out in the role of a Young Leader, and also join in Group activities.
